Adaptations for Gymnastics in CrossFit Adaptive
Who is Xabi Osa? We all know the Xabi athlete who leaves us with their mouths open and is an example for all, but how is Xabi with his family, friends ...?
I am a simple boy. I like to go around adventure but what matters most to me is the company. When I am with my family and friends, I like being with them. Disconnect. I don't have all the time I would like to be with them, so I enjoy it to the fullest.
How were your beginnings in the world of training and fitness?
I was never very athletic. Moreover, as younger, the opposite. When I went to live in the USA, I started training in the gym, since I could not practice surfing. My story with the sport began in Gold’s Gym. I started training and in the end I ended up working there, climbing to the position of manager of operations. The sport taught me that, if I tried, I got results, and I took it in all aspects of my life: in university, at work and sports. I started playing Rugby, to do Strongman and ended up competing in a Strongman Open competition. I loved the atmosphere, but more the preparation process. Going day to day, sacrifice, dealing with daily frustration, to fight.
"To see me incapable, to raise stones. Everything because I did not let myself be guided by the part of me that I doubted. I started to look at 1% good instead of the 99% bad that I saw in my life, and put all my energy in it. "
I returned to Spain, and met the Crossfit, and after a few months I learned that there was an adapted Crossfit World Cup. I signed up and dedicated all my life to being prepared to face him. I classified and went to the World Cup, and since then. I like to wake up every day and show myself that you can. That no matter what we lack, but with what we have, if we strive, you can.
In my category, what best suits are gymnastics. Muscle Up, Handstand Push Up, Handstand Walk ...
But I refuse to make these movements impossible. I effort daily to be able to do everything. No complaints, without excuses.
Today we bring you 4 gymnastic adaptations that Xabi carries out daily. Thank you for showing us that if you really fight for something, there are no limits.
Rope up adaptation (Rope Climb)
Adaptations for work in cages as dominated and toes to bar
Adaptations for Handstandwalk and Handstand Push Ups
Adaptation to Jump to Comba (Double Unders)
As for my programming, it is that of an unappeated athlete, with accessory work to strengthen my body unilaterally so that the structure endures the load. I train two sessions a day. An aerobic and another film, strength ... I communicate a lot with the coach since this world is quite new and there are not so many knowledge, but their desire to learn and mine lead us to harmony.
Technical wod to put into practice everything learned:
Accessory work;
Prono W. Pull Ups
HS Walk
Strict Hspu
50rds:
5 Ub du. Start with double and leaving the rope on the floor on each round.
