Why should you try to compete in Crossfit?

¿Por qué deberías probar a competir en CrossFit?

Contrary to what you can think, compete in Crossfit is not reserved only for more form and experienced athletes. Proof of this is the increasingly extensive network of championships, tournaments and competitions of all types and for all levels in Spain, and without a doubt also abroad.

The Crossfit is a sport that many ran out of fashion when it arrived, but its installation in our country is one of the most powerful in the world in recent years, being the most growing sports installation brand. And therefore the appearance of competitions is logical, which has grown exponentially every year.

Today, many of these competitions have international renown and are strongly settled in the mind and calendar of many athletes such as: Fittest Freakest Challenge, Taronja Games, Madrid Challenger Series, Fight Like A Woman, Battle of the Mediterranean or Madrid Crossfit Championship, among many others.

But if you are a non -professional athlete, of those who trains 3 days a week and that has his family and a work totally oblivious to sports, makes sense that you participate in Crossfit competitions? The answer is that yes, without a doubt, and if you stay with some there are 5 reasons to compete in Crossfit regardless of your level.

 

1. Together you get further

Competing is not synonymous with doing it individually, moreover, we strongly recommend that your first competitions are the "teams" format or by teams or in pairs. The main reason is that you will have someone to support you before, during and after the competition. Someone with your same fears and passions and who will be easier to understand you.

This is not a rose field, you have to find athletes with a higher level and especially with some spectative on the competition similar to yours. If you are going to have fun while you try as much as possible, but your partner will want to win at all costs, it is likely that Tandem does not go well.

2. Compete is available to everyone

As well as there are very "professional" competitions in which some standards of movements and weights are required only within reach of people very in form. Events have emerged with "SCALED" divisions or climbs, in which the requirements to athletes in gymnastics and in the weights in Olympic movements are much more accessible. With this, democratization is achieved in access to competitions that are the perfect land for your first incursions into the competitive world.

A negative aspect of these competitions are the egos of quite prepared athletes that are pointed out to scaled divisions because they prefer to remain above people less in a way than going to competitions that would have access for their physical characteristics but in which they would shine much less.

3. Not everything is crossfit

Although we are talking about CrossFit competitions, there are more popular, or massive sports tests, in which you can participate to try your physical condition, and in which your box training will come to you but that are very good but that they are not of WOD type .

We talk, for example, obstacle races or OCR (hinders Course Racs). In Spain the best known is the Spartan Race and is characterized by having 3 main distances (5, 10 and 21 kilometers respectively) among which there are many obstacles of all kinds such as spear launch, carry chains, climb structures, cross rivers. ..

Lately, perfect races have also emerged for athletes that make crossfit, but do not handle gymnastics very well (dominated, muscle ups, pine ...) or Olympic movements, but that are fit and have strength. The best known are Deka, a kind of division of Spartan Race and Hyrox. The latter includes rowing, skierg, and a race with sled thrust, strenuous strides and much more. But all with very little technical and very accessible movements.

4. Compete will open your eyes

Whether the competition is good for you, as if you are "regulated" better than you thought. All this will be an extra motivation to return to the box more desire than ever.

5. The road

The preparation of the competition will be an experience in itself. Prepare the wods, polish what is good for you and reinforce your weaknesses. Prepare "syncro" movements with colleagues, learn to raise strategies, choose what clothes and accessories carry, raise nutrition and rest ... All these things are part of the competition, and if you do it in a healthy way it is very easy to enjoy them .
